Best 1.000 Albums ever?

Vor einiger Zeit erreichte mich eine E-Mail eines gewissen Eric Berlin - keine Ahnung wie er auf mich gekommen ist – mit folgender Einladung:

I thought you might be interested in the best 1,000 albums ever project, which is rocketing past the halfway point with 500+ selections and counting (each with its own full blown article, the likes of which you won't find anywhere else!), covering rock, pop, hip hop, jazz, and every other genre you can think of!

Nachdem ich mir den Blog angesehen hatte schrieb ich folgende Antwort:

I think your project is totally useless as it does in no way represent music in general. yes, humans make music since thousends of years and the invention of the phonograph is only around 100 hundred years old so recorded music only represents a small part of the musical heritage of mankind. while scrolling through your list I noticed some women and people of colour but no music from africa, asia, south america or eastern europe, there is no classical or traditional music. how can you dare to say that only rock musicians make important albums? therefore your list is only white male bullshit.

Nun, Herr Berlin gibt selbst zu, nicht qualifiziert zu sein zu entscheiden, was die 1.000 besten LPs seien, und das alles basiere nur auf seinem persönlichen Geschmack. Aber dann wäre der Titel seines Projekts besser "Meine 1000 Lieblingsalben" oder so ähnlich gewesen, wenn man die im Titel behauptete Objektivität gar nicht leisten kann/will. Nur hätten sich dann wahrscheinlich weniger Menschen für seinen Geschmack interessiert.

Interessanter fand ich da schon den Blog "My Husband's Stupid Record Collection", der aber leider wegen der Schwangerschaft der Autorin vorzeitig endete und inzwischen ganz aus dem Netz verschwunden ist (nur noch Teile über das Internet Archive rekonstruierbar).
