Fred Banana Combo

Fred Banana Combo
Moll Doll (Introduktion) (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) / Leb Wohl, Mein Schatz (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) / Kikaku (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) / Nowhere Bei Mir (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) / Das Rheintal (Valley Of The Rhine) (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) / Why Don´t You See The World (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) // Soldaten Des Grünen (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) / Slow Die (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown/Plank) / Ring (Meyer/Tollmann/Brown) + Soldaten Des Grünen (single edit)

Label Warm Records erschienen.

Fred Banana Combo
She loves you (Lennon/McCartney) / My Girl (Brown/Tollman/Würch) / Idi Amin (Brown/Tollmann) / Runaway (Shannon/Crook) / Thursday (Brown/Meyer/Tollmann) / I don´t know (Brown/Tollman) / Disco dream (Sherman/Strengert) / Rut of love (Brown/Tollman) / Yesterday (Lennon/McCartney) // Riding to Rome (Brown/Tollman) / Fascination (Brown/Tollman) / Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry) / Radio (Brown/Meyer/Tollman) / Lonely Hearts Hotel (Brown/Tollman) / Boxer dog (Bill Brown) / No destination Blues (Brown/Tollman) / Strange sound (Brown/Tollman/Würch)

Translation: Sorry that it took so much time to post the answer for my question from September 9th. Yes, it was a track from the first album of The Fred Banana Combo from 1980. The band released 4 albums between 1980 and 1988 for which you can find download links above. I prefer the second and the third album because they have a good driving new wave sound with lots of dynamic bass and drums and some fine brass details. The first album has more to do with rock'n'roll and the last is one is a bit weak. Also I like to mention that the guitar player Gottfried Tollmann is also working as an art consultant and had connections with Joseph Beuys.

Hi. Got here late - the link for the 3rd LP has expired. Drummer Nicolle Meyer had a single "Nowhere bei mir" (Virgin 1983) which appears in the "Grlz" comp, it's sweet.
Dont know if you accept requests, in case you do, I'd love to hear the Big Muff (pre Abwärts)tracks from the "In die Zukunft" comp, and then the 2nd Abwärts LP, which seems pretty ellusive (the Weird System comp only has 2 tracks from it).
Thanks for the blog

Fernando :)

hi fernando,
the third fred banana album is up again - but big muff and abwärts can take some time, but it's an interessting idea ;-)

Vielen Dank!!! Sehr nett.
"...can take some time..." Then I'll have to visit more often ;) (Not that I'm new here, tho' I was lazy to comment... or did I? I loved the posts about SYPH, Der Plan and many others, big thanks!)

Hallo,

And I really do apreciate the wishlist of Fernando ;)

Saludos,

Ralf

bedankt,

Also: 10Q! tausendmal!

This is great. I would never have guessed that a band called the Fred Banana Combo would sound like this. I was expecting bad comedy. You're right number 2 and 3 are the best. "I'm In a Rut" manages to rock in --- what is it? --- 14/4 time.

Unknown hat gesagt…

Yep, 14/4 seems right for "I'm In A Rut". And the incredible guitar at the beginning - I always liked their sound. There are some cute pieces on #1 too like "Riding To Rome".
Check it out!

Weiter so!

Hi Martin, longtimenosee! :D

In 2007 you wrote "„No destination Blues” ist auch auf der mir leider unbekannten ersten Single der Band zu hören...."

Look what I just found: http://devildick.blogspot.com.es/2012/02/fred-banana-combo-no-destination-blues.html

The terrible thing is, I also found that they had another song for Warm, "Hot Rod Gino", included in a VVAA LP called Nova Vaga (11/78), this one has to be definitely ellusive...

Danke (for the good times & all), alles Gute

Fernando :)

OK: I did the No Destination Blues track on Nova Vaga LP album on vinyl in 1978 from London on my label "Warm Records" by The Fred Banana Combo. So, I am still looking for Tollman!!! Come out Gotty!

The best of the old shit and the new shit".

Oktober an Krebs gestorben.
[Gottfried Tollman died of Cancer on the October 6th 2015]
