Darryl W. Bullock 1964-2024

Daraus entstanden auch einige Bücher, u.a. Weitere Veröffentlichungen waren 2021 "The Velvet Mafia: The Gay Men Who Ran The Swinging Sixties" , "Pride, Pop and Politics: Music, Theatre and LGBT Activism, 1970-2022" und 2023 "Queer Blues: The Hidden Figures of Early Blues Music". Posthum ist nun "Love and Fury: The Extraordinary Life, Death and Legacy of Joe Meek" erschienen.
"I've met an awful lot of people in my seventy one years of life, some pleasant, some not so. Of all the pleasant ones, a few names stand out, in fact, head and shoulders, even above the others. Darryl was one of the few of the few, on that shortlist. The cream of the crop.
Make no mistake, this very talented writer and all round 'good egg', shone out. I always felt brightened after I'd spoken with him. I felt lightened and levitated. This is a priceless ability that few have, and Darryl had it in buckets full. Whatever the subject, his take would usually be the right one. The calming one. The opinion with levity. The ray of bright that was needed.
Oh, I'm going to miss you sunshine." (Message from Andy Partridge read out at the funeral)

Raincoats and Song-Poems

"Kissi" asked me to re-upload the B-Sides from The Raincoats from this posting and here they are:
  • The Raincoats
"Fairytale In The Supermarket" // "In Love" / "Adventures Close To Home"
    7", Rough Trade 1979
    (download)

  • "I Keep Walking", B-Seite der Single "Don't Be Mean", Rough Trade 1995 (download)
And here are some links to the regular albums from The Raincoats: The Raincoats, Odyshape and Moving one. I could not find a link to their reunion album and also not to the live cassette released on ROIR, but maybe this link will help you.

"ajm" asked me to re-upload the eighth batch of the lost www.aspma.com archive. I don't know why (s)he asked only for this one because most download-links for the song-poem postings are gone - maybe (s)he was looking for a certain song? Anyway I uploaded ALL of the files for your pleasure :-)
And if you don't know what a "song-poem" is, here is a link to the legendary first song-poem compilation "Beat of the traps" and here is another link to compilations No.4-6. And finally here is a link to a probably complete discography of all song-poem reissues (german language only).

PS: if you know where to find any other song-poems please let me know :-)

43 Song Poems

Do I have to explain what a song poem is? Here is a short explanation and here a longer one.
As you might notice the website http://www.songpoemmusic.com wasn't updated since February 2004 and the link to the mp3 files is dead. Originally the domain was www.aspma.com, but then probably some bigger company claimed the name of the domain so there were no updates for more than a year and then the content moved to songpoemmusic.com but without the mp3 files and no updates since 3 years.
Luckily I had discovered song poems some years earlier, so I can offer you the original mp3 content of www.aspma.com, some 250 mp3s, plus some extras. So here is the first batch including the following tracks:

On the other hand I'm also looking for some mp3s that were once available through various websites but are gone now. Maybe you have them or know where to get them. So the deal is: if you offer me some of these files I post the next batch of song poem music. (download)
And here is my wish list:
(...)
