Dann habe ich dort gefunden, daß eine offensichtlich zu kurze Biographie da steht. Harry unterschreibt die Bio. Er sagt, daß Uwe Mitglied der Gruppe immer blieb. "I still think Jahnke quit S.Y.P.H....Hi Martin
"I still think Jahnke quit S.Y.P.H. although for a shorter period but on the 2xEP from 12/81 he is just credited as a guest musician (the credits on the cd version are not correct)".
Hehe, you got it right, my source is the CD version. But Jahnke is credited there not only as musician but also as composer of most of the songs; there's even a photo of him... All this should be a HUGE mistake if you were right...
On the other hand there's the "Ungehörsam" comp that has a list of line-ups and things. Jahnke is everywhere from 1979 thru the 1990s excepting the 2000+ recordings. In particular he is again credited as member and composer in the "Harbeitslose" era (2xep PF 21 & the LP, PF 25) plus the unreleased "Improvisation One" from 1981 (probably same sessions: the studios and the producer are the same). This CD is from a different label and the people who write there are different too. So this makes 2 sources crediting Jahnke as member in the end of 1981.
Furthermore, what does your ear tell you? I hear Uwe Karoli, er... Jahnke (excuse the pun if your read this, Uwe, love yer guitar playing) playing everywhere (or most of the songs at least) in the weirdopunky PF 21+ the quieter PF25.
My personal inductive & provisional conclusion is: he was officially member of Fehlfarben but kept on with Syph as a parallel band or something alike. You mention him as being credited as "guest" in the orig. 2xEP, my guess is that probably he was in contractual obligations with EMI so he couldn't appear as member of another band, or something like that.
About the 'Laber Harry' session, I haven't the slightest idea. I see the drummer kept on for a while but the bassist was soon replaced by Thomas Oberhoff who plays in the 12/81 sessions.
Anyway - Syph or someone should write a decent bio of the band (moreover, being a German band, they should absolutely add a complete anal disco- and sessionography) and thus put us away from having to make conjectures, shouldn't they?! :D

Fernando :)

@ PS 1 - I don't think so. @ PS 2 - Nice to know @ PS 3 That's goods news. At least you make 2 people happy with that. He was also not involved with the recording of Laber Larry. Jahnke joined Fehlfarben in 1981 for the "Wie Bitte Was"-7" and could also be heard on the Thomas Schwebel-CD "Popmusik und Hundezucht" and the recordings with Hellmut Hattler. He also was part of the last reunion of Fehlfarben but did not record and tour with the band in 1991.
PS: Did I mention that "Born in DDR", "Stopp Strauss", Stammheim-tapes and CHBB are up again?
PPS: Yes, I've seen that Marie & Garçons-7" over at isksp and I recently found again the album "Divorce" by Garçons which I originally sold years ago. Talking about changing musical taste.
PPPS: Yes, some more S.Y.P.H. coming up soon...martinfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08292135836023253798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28250689.post-15194161040232289122009-07-07T16:15:38.220+02:002009-07-07T16:15:38.220+02:00Nein nein, Uwe Jahnke didn't leave the mighty ...Nein nein, Uwe Jahnke didn't leave the mighty SYPH at all when he joined Fehlfarben. There's some mistakes in your text so I must correct -
First, well I'm not sure about when Jahnke joined Fehlfarben but in their "33 Tage" CD I read that Peter Hain left in spring 81 and that's when Schwebel took over vocals so probably that's when they sought for a second guitarist too. Jahnke stayed with them till 1983 at least (don't know if he played in their 1984 unreleased LP...). But at the same time he kept working with SYPH.
Then, in 12/81 SYPH recorded the stuff that later was to be released as the 2xEP "SYPH" (God, their titles were so confusing as the ones from the early Modern Lovers, haha) and the Harbeitlose LP. Jahnke plays in these recordings. Yeah the line up had changed the rhythm section but that was it.

Übrigens, thanks for this one!!! A post of the 1981 live album would make also an interesting post. I don't think there's a reissue of that album... (yes, this is a request... if possible, etc) ;o)
LG,
Fernando :)

PS On a more personal note: Martin I've been seeing the Marie & Garçons name in your request list for a long time and I wanted to tell you that recently in the iskp blog there was a post of their John Cale-produced 45. The blogmaster there has told me that he's gonna post some more Garçons there, so stay tuned...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
